NHS Lincolnshire ICB has faced a significant challenge with an increasing backlog of overdue Continuing Healthcare (CHC) 3-month and 12-month reviews, DSTs, and Fast-Track reviews. This case study explores the root causes of the backlog, the impact on the Integrated Care System (ICS) CHC teams, and the strategies implemented to alleviate the extreme pressure associated with meeting these deadlines resulting in £2.5million of identified overspend.

Oxford CCG found that there was a noticeable increase in additional one-to-one care packages given out in the Oxford area, which led to a review to explore the reasons for and solutions to the sharp rise in provision.
